Do aero rims of the same weight as a traditional box-section rim climb any worse? Also, do aero rims ride stiffer than normal rims?

Wheels with aero rims might weigh the same as box section rim wheels, but the weight will be in a different place. The rims on aero wheels are heavier, making the wheel more difficult to accelerate than lighter box section rims. Heavier rims also increase the gyroscopic effect of a spinning wheel, which will make the bike feel less responsive when cornering. Deep section rims are much stiffer than box section rims, which is why they don’t need as many spokes, but they do contribute to a harsher ride.
